Service Box Installation
service box installation
Service boxes, also known as downspout catch trays, are installed near the lower portion of the downspouts. Service boxes are spliced into the lower level (2ft- 4ft) of the downspout where it is easily accessible and can be maintained periodically by the homeowner.
The service box will catch any leaves and needles inside the downspouts before they go into the underground drainage lines.
These trays will need to be cleaned out periodically based on the amount of debris they catch. They are designed so that if the Debis builds up, the overflow will be contained within the inside of the downspout.
Ideally, the trays are emptied out often enough to keep this for happening, but the idea is to keep debris from clogging the underground drainage lines, where it is a much more difficult and expensive issue to repair.
